Re:  Announcement of Candidates for all vacancies on the Board of Directors and Officers

       Annual/Election Meeting scheduled for Thursday, February 8, 2024 – 6:00pm at Franktown Fire Station

Formal notice and call for nominations went out to Active Members on 1/12/2024, and to Non-Active Deerfield Residents on 1/14/2024. We have not received candidates for three positions - this is a great opportunity to get involved in your Deerfield community! 

The Nominating Committee submits the below names of the self-nominees received according to DHPO, Inc. By-Law – Article VI – ELECTIONS, Sections 1-3.

  • Board Members at Large – (3 Positions Total)

    • No 2nd Candidate for Open Position Received

    • No 3rd Candidate for Open Position Received

 

Under Section 4 of the aforementioned DHPO, Inc. By-Laws, additional nominations may be made by written petition, if signed by at least three (3) members in good standing (Active Members), and filed with the Secretary at least one week prior to the annual meeting.  No candidate shall be announced for nomination unless their consent has been secured.  Such petitioners shall immediately announce the additional candidates to the entire membership by written notice or by posting on the website. Elections shall be held at the annual meeting by written ballot. The Secretary will then verify, maintain, and record the number of written ballots and the result.

Fellow Deerfield Residents,

Happy New Year to All…..

 

As previously posted and announced, the Deerfield Homeowners and Property Owners, Inc. (DHPO) Annual Membership Meeting and Election of Board of Directors is scheduled for Thursday, February 8th - 6:00 to 9pm, at the Franktown Fire Station.

 

This Deerfield Community Needs YOU!!!

  • Active Member Candidates are needed for 2024-26 Board of Direct positions (7).

       President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and  3 Member at Large Directors.

  • Take an active role in keeping Deerfield’s pristine surroundings beautiful.

  • Your support is required in protecting our environment, lifestyles, and property values.

  • ECC Volunteers are also needed to assist fellow residents going forward.

 

Residents are invited to renew or join fellow neighbors in becoming active members which is a requirement for any DHPO volunteer positions.  Membership Form for 2023-24 is attached for your convenience.

Active membership allows voting privileges, social event participation and ECC application processing free of charge.  Most importantly your involvement supports the continuation of our community and maintains our individual property values.

 

Such programs as the ongoing Fire Mitigation Grant program would have not been possible if the DHPO organization did not exist, as this and other opportunities require a community organizations to quality, rather than individual property owners acting separately. 

Deerfield’s successful application and grant award for fire mitigation last spring 2023 in the amounts of $319,000 Colorado State and $159,500 Douglas Count, 50% and 25% respective, direct property owner reimbursement is ongoing.  At the close of 2023, fire mitigation has been completed by 29 lot owners and $218,554 reimbursement (net 75% project cost) grant funds have been distributed to fellow Deerfield residents.  Addition wail listed property owners are moving ahead as this continues until all funding is utilized.  Additional residents can still utilize this great opportunity to protect your resident, reduce property fire risks, and maintain your homeowners insurance policies in the upcoming years.  

 

Nominating committee for the purpose of conducting new DHPO Board position candidate elections during this Annual Meeting has been formed by the Board.  Active members who wish to volunteer their time to assist on the nominating committee, please advise the Board by sending your interest and availability to the administration@deerfieldexpress.org email address.   Following are respective dates/deadlines which are required to compile candidate names for positions, and advise membership for this election process:

Membership Renewal Reminder

June 2023 marks the end of our current fiscal year, and Membership Renewal for this upcoming DHPO Fiscal Year 2023-24  (July 1st, 2023 – June 30th, 2024) is due July 1st, per our By-Laws.

Please join your neighbors in becoming voluntary Active Members of the Deerfield Homeowners and Property Owners, Inc. (DHPO).

Your Active Membership annual $300 dues continues to support our community in protecting this beautiful area and maintaining our property values through mandatory covenant adherence.

  • 2022-23 DHPO active membership currently is 98 property lot owners (50.8% of all owners).

  • Past participation and direct support continue to generate increasing home property values.

  • Activities & Social functions are funded by your membership dues. (Recent Fall & Spring Dumpster Days, Winter Social, and County Commissioner Meetings, plus upcoming July 4th Tractor Parade, and 2022-23 Fire Mitigation Grant Refund Successful Grant program $478.5K.)

  • Membership provides “strength in numbers” towards directing Deerfield and vicinity Douglas County future planning.  This includes Traffic Control Enforcement, Road Maintenance, etc.

  • Voting Rights in Deerfield’s rural preservation and future direction decisions.

  • Covenants Enforcement protecting our community’s natural beauty and owner’s investments.

(Note recent ECC legal actions required have been concluded with both District & Appeals Courts re-enforcing our Protective Covenants.)
